Maths Week Scotland 2026

DYW Live is celebrating the 10 year anniversary of Maths Week Scotland with a variety of sessions throughout the week on the theme of 'Maths Matters', so come join us!

  • On Tuesday 22nd September we've three webinars suitable for all ages where speakers from Tech, Banking and Healthcare will talk about the use of maths in their industries. Each webinar will last approximately half an hour and recordings will be available afterwards
  • In partnership with DYW Live, Tech She Can are running two fantastic sessions during the week - Tech for Money (Age 7-11) and Tech for Finance (Age 11-14) on Monday 13:30 and Thursday 14:00 respectively which are available on their website
  • Business in the community have added an extra session on Maths in Everyday Life to their fantastic Barclays Lifeskills course for primary learners on Wednesday 9:30am
  • We also have a range of recordings of excellent sessions from previous years and resources collated by Education Scotland for Numeracy and Mathematics which can be found at the bottom of the page

Monday 21st September 13:30 Tech for Money (Age 7-11) In this engaging lesson, pupils will explore what money is, why we need it, and how it helps us trade goods and services. They will also learn about the history of coins and how money has developed into the digital forms we use today. Register
Tuesday 22nd September 10:45 Maths Matters in Sports Operations Learn more about what goes on behind the scenes to support high performance athletes in training and competitions around the world. Register
Tuesday 22nd September 11:45 Maths in Non-medical Roles Explore some of the non-medical roles in the NHS and learn more about the wide range of maths skills involved in this work. Register

Maths in Everyday Life

Help students understand the importance of number skills to build their confidence with money and work.

Thursday 24th September 14:00 Tech for Finance (Age 11-14) Louise will explain what finance is, and how technology is developing in this area - from revolutionising wealth management to securing financial systems against cyber threats. Students will discover how cutting-edge innovations are shaping the future of money and find out about some of the diverse technology careers they could pursue in the finance industry. Register
