Description:
This course aims to provide learners with an introduction to the world of work. We have two standalone sessions on general careers advice and apprenticeships, as well as a four session series providing a look at the world of work from considering jobs matching their skills and interests through the application and interview process to their first day at work.
While we think the four session series is best experienced together for a comprehensive offer, we can also deliver individual sessions as standalone if requested.
Sessions will be organised at times/days to suit the schools on a first come first served basis within our deliver capacity. Once sessions are scheduled all are welcome to attend.
Standalone sessions:
- General Employability - This practical workshop guides participants through key industry roles and sectors, builds confidence with elevator pitches and core employability skills, and offers hands-on interview practice using the STAR technique. Gain valuable insights into companies and industries to prepare for real-world opportunities.
- Apprenticeships - Join us for an engaging workshop designed to help you explore the world of apprenticeships. Learn what an apprenticeship is and discover the wide range of roles available across different industries. We’ll guide you through how to approach competency-based questions using the STAR technique and give you the chance to practise your interview skills. Gain valuable insights into various sectors and hear what top employers look for in candidates. Whether you're just starting your career journey or considering a new direction, this session will equip you with the knowledge and confidence to take your next step.
Four Session Series
- Session 1: All About You - This session involves identifying your own personal values, interest, skills and qualities and considering what jobs you'll be most compatible with.
- Session 2: Applying for Work - We'll briefly discuss what a CV is then look at how we can match our skills and qualities to job adverts.
- Session 3: The Job Interview - We'll look at how to be successful at a job interview with an interactive interview game.
- Session 4: First Day at Work - We'll look at what the first day of work is like, what you can expect and how to make a good first impression.
Certificate:
Your learners can receive their own Certificate of Achievement signed by Ollie Bray for attending our sessions. All they need to do is complete the learner's feedback form which will be put in the chat at the end of every session. The certificate will include their name and the course they attended, and will be sent to their Glow email (and the Teacher's if filled in). Please note these must be completed individually by learners and unfortunately cannot be filled out on behalf of the whole class by the Teacher.
Additional Requirements:
These are designed to be interactive sessions so please try and have your learners ready to share their thoughts about their future careers and how they might enter the world of work - these will typically be shared via their teacher into the meeting chat.
